Resident Support & Success Resident in Distress Subcommittee Intake Application

Mission and Scope

The J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society (JRGOS) Resident Support and Success (RSS) Resident in Distress Subcommittee is dedicated to evaluating situations of distress among orthopaedic surgery residents and fellows, and providing targeted, actionable guidance to help them navigate challenges in training.

Our focus is on short-term advisory support, not ongoing counseling services such as those previously provided by the NCR or Tiger Teams.

In addition to individual consultations within our defined scope, the RSS Committee hosts 1–2 webinars annually to equip residents with strategies for successfully completing their orthopaedic training and achieving board certification.

Service Restrictions

The RSS Committee is unable to provide individual counseling in the following situations:

  • The resident has been terminated from their residency program and/or has retained legal counsel.
  • The resident is not currently enrolled in a residency program at the time of inquiry.
  • The resident is not a member of JRGOS at the time of inquiry.

Our Commitment

Formed in May 2023, the RSS Resident in Distress Subcommittee was established to serve as a resource for residents and fellows experiencing challenges during training. While JRGOS cannot guarantee the outcome of any specific concern, we are committed to offering guidance, support, and resources to help residents make informed decisions.

Once finalized, our standardized exit statement will be used consistently in both written and verbal communications for residents whose situations fall outside our scope or whose engagement with the committee has naturally concluded.

We appreciate your trust in reaching out to us and wish you continued success in your training and future endeavors.
